Arvon U. Jackson, is a native of Wilmington, Delaware, referred to as Coach Pops. He is an excited 75 year old pioneer.
Arvon is a graduate of Howard High School, presently known as Howard High School of Technology. Arvon played football, baseball and basketball. He played with some notable names in the area, such as Jim Plunhell, Johnny Samples, Johnny Oates and Lenny Butler. Arvon also attended Maryland State University, formerly known as Maryland State College. There Arvon majored in Physical Education, and played football.
Arvon’s goal was to become a football coach. In order to accomplish that goal, he was under the tutelage of Mr. Millard Naylor. Mr. Naylor was used in various capacities at Howard High School, such as, Science teacher, football coach, baseball coach and basketball coach.
Arvon has coached five years with the New Castle Steelers under Head Coach Gary Hayman, two years at Bancroft Parkway, two years at Catholic Isenberg High City youth organization, two years with Wilmington, DE J Street Raiders under Head Coach Kerry Galloway.
Arvon has built a repore with the parents and players, in the way of instilling good morals and values as if they were his biological children. Arvon encourages the youth to be all that they can be, as well as, when it pertains to playing football, condition is the key.
Arvon is a member of Mount Joy Church, here in the City of Wilmington. His pastor is the Rev. Derrick Poser. Arvon has realized that, without God, he can do nothing. Arvon is thankful to be part of NO LIMIT organization.
